A traditional form of Ayurvedic massage. Ayurveda, referred to as the sister science of yoga, is a centuries old wisdom that brings the knowledge of how to live in harmony with nature and to live without disease. In Ayurveda, Dinacharya or daily routine, is of utmost importance to establish health & healing.

A highly recommended part of the daily routine, Abhyanga massage is said to be an essential element for creating and maintaining optimal health.

The experience of receiving this massage, can leave one with a feeling of calm, stability, ease & replenishment. It’s said to be one of the most useful practices for you to have in your toolkit to restore patterns of broken sleep, restlessness, stress & anxiety.  Marma points, which are points of concentrated energy, are used along with Ayurvedic oils to restore your system back to a balanced state.

Swedana or steam therapy is highly recommended after massage as it further helps to eliminate toxins from the body, relieves muscular tension, improves blood circulation, induces a feeling of calm. A traditional Indian sauna keeps the head out so that the sense organs aren’t depleted. *Please note, the steam therapy is contraindicated during pregnancy, if you have high blood pressure or for children under 12.

*Please note,  this style differs from remedial massage. They are contraindicated immediately after eating, when experiencing a strong headache or migraine, pregnant, if you have excessive mucus or congestion, suffering severe constipation, after having surgery or for the first three days of heavy flow of menstruation.

Heartworks Lomi Lomi massage is one of the ancient styles of Hawaiian massage. A nurturing, replenishing massage style, using energy flow, breathing & rhythm. Supporting the restoration of energy flow in the body. It allows you to turn off and tune in, instilling a deep sense of well-being in body, mind and spirit.

Indian head massage also comes from the wisdom of Ayurveda. It combines warmed organic oil with Ayurvedic herbs to nourish and replenish your system. The massage consists of a combination of fluid strokes, circular movements & stimulation of marma points.

These high energy points are found throughout the body and we will focus the points through the head, neck, face and shoulders and hands in this treatment. A copper foot bath is said to be very purifying and to relieve inflammation in the body.

As we are understanding more and more, the mind and body are intertwined, so a head massage to relieve tension is a simple nurturing practice to soothe and pacify both mind & body.

This detoxifying and nourishing Ayurvedic massage is performed using warm medicated herbal bags called boluses. Made on the morning of your treatment and filled with anti-inflammatory herbs, dipped into warmed sesame oil and massaged across the body. Pinda Sweda is a traditional therapeutic treatment which has a wide array of therapeutic benefits including, promoting circulation, improving lymphatic drainage, soothing nervs and relaxing muscles, improving skin texture, sipporting sleep, relaxing to the body and mind. This treatment also includes a detoxifying marma point face massage with bronze kansa wand.

Experience the profound and peaceful effects of Shirodhara. A warmed oil streams form the copper dharma pot onto your forehead, directed to your ajna chakra or third eye. This area is associated with the pineal, pituitary and hypothalmus glands, which dictate the organisation and regulation of all hormonal secretions. Responsible for our digestion, breath, elimination and our emotional state.
It relaxes the mind, promotes a peaceful sleep, reduces anxiety, nourishes hair and scalp, improves concentration, reduces fatigue, brain fog, headaches and problems relating to head, neck and sinuses.

Commence with a seated Indian head massage, which includes the shoulders, arms and hands and a foot soak in a warm copper foot bath, lavender and rose petals. Then lying on your side, you will be supported with pillows for your comfort, so that I can concentrate on your legs, hips and back. Feel rested, nurtured and supported.

The benefits are releif from aches and pains, helping to alleviate common discomforts such as lower back pain, sciatica and muscle tension. Stress reduction, improved sleep, enhanced circulation, swelling and edema, digestive support and emotional wellbeing. Baby loves this too! Her massages leave me feeling like I have been on a retreat. It's not just a massage, it's a whole expererience.

I absolutley love my self care ritual of seeing Lou once a month for her incredible Abhyanga massage. Being a therapist myself, I am very fussy about who I allow to hold space for me. Louise with her extensive knowledge, her professionalism and gentle heart, is the perfect combination of a therapist. Her massages leave me feeling like I have been on a retreat. It’s not just a massage, it’s a whole experience.
